Curiosity possibly caused you to click on this screen. Good, many positive benefits can be derived from the use of hypnotic techniques,ie.hypnosis, guided imagery, prayer,NLP, meditation, visualization) and many others. But, many of the general public do not utilize this powerful part of their mind, the subconscious. All of those techniques mentioned use what we call hypnotic states. These techniques bring into play the subconscious where deeper changes accur. The following information has been accumulated through the experience, training, notes, and reading of this therapist. For that reason this compilation has not been footnoted, and the word hypnosis, in this article, refers to any technique utilizing a hypnotic state.

A hypnotic state is a perfectly safe, relaxing technique, which can be used for numerous reasons: to alter habits and personality traits, improve memory, increase natural healing, reduce pain, release anger, resolve addictions, ease grief and trauma. Problems of sexuality, spirituality, confidence, interpersonal relationships and, too many other reasons to list, are resolved through hypnotic techniques.

You have already experienced hypnotic states, countless of times; although you may not realized you had. You go through the same altered states of consciousness a minimum of twice a day, when you are crossing over into sleep and when you are awakening.

Let me explain it to you this way. The brain researchers have divided the brain into four level of cycles-per-second activities: Beta-full consciousness, Alpha-crossing over into sleep, Theta-early stages of sleep, and Delta-full sleep to deepest sleep. For most people, the hypnotic state is a mid-Alpha range activity, with the subject remaining fully conscious of everything that is going on and, contrary to what you may have heard, in complete control.

For the sake of understanding, hypnotic techniques are usually explained as having three overlapping levels:

1.With a light trance, the subject is just very relaxed. The majority of people achieve this level very easily. Many doubt that they were hypnotized, as they do not notice any difference in how they feel.

2. With the medium trance, the subject is totally relaxed and completely open to suggestions. The person can feel or relive any suggested events. And be aware, to a degree, of what is going on around the environment. But it will not distract the therapist's voice

3. With the deep trance, the subject will not remember what he has been experiencing, unless specifically commanded upon awakening. About one person out of ten can achieve this state when first experiencing hypnosis. This is the ideal subject for the stage hypnotist.

A hypnotic technique is a matter of setting aside the conscious mind and narrowing the attention span down to one thing. Just as you do when you are beginning to go to sleep at night. When your body is relaxed, also is your mind. With your mind relaxed, your conscious mind, I call it the editor, is not as diligent regarding the thoughts that it accepts. With one in this altered state, with the conscious mind relaxed, the subconscious can more easily be programmed or reprogrammed. Therefore suggestions are more effective. A Hypnotic state is the ultimate means of heightening motivation by utilizing the cooperation of the deeper part of your mind, your subconscious, and that of your conscious desires. Also, in this relaxed state, having tapped into the universal Source, unsolicited creatiive thoughts often bubble up, sometimes with no conscious awareness, .

Even when working with a therapist, the client is the true hypnotist. No one can be hypnotized against their will, and even after a hypnotic state is achieved, most people will be able to hear, talk, think, act, or open their eyes at any time. Even the most carefully proposed hypnotic suggestions could not make you do anything against yourr conscious desires. You will not reveal anything you would consciously be unwilling to reveal. Hypnosis should not be used to resolve pain unless the source has been established. Those who find they fall into a deep sleep easily, or have utilized meditation or other hypnotic techniques may find problems awakening at the time anticipating. If you are using audio hypnotic products, I suggest an arrangement made to have someone awaken you at an established time, or set an alarm. It is also possible, with practice, to hypnotize yourself to awaken at a certain time.
